Sofía Fasla-Prolat
Born in Madrid, Sofía Fasla-Prolat has appeared at renowned festivals including the British Isles Music Festival, The Holland Music Sessions, Cervo International Festival, Schloss Kirchberg an der Jagst International Music Festival, Proyecto Musical Villa de Lerma, Kammermusik Festival Freiburg, Fundación Eutherpe, Aurora Chamber Music Festival (Sweden), Fundación Vitoria Vital, Chamber Music Academy of Ferrara, Swiss Foundation for Young Musicians or Fundación Juan March Madrid.
She has been a member of the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO), the Moritzburg Festival Orchestra, and the Lucerne Contemporary Orchestra, where she has also served as assistant concertmaster and taken on leadership roles. She performs regularly with orchestras such as the Bruckner Orchester Linz, Haydn Philharmonie, the Spira Mirabilis Project, KALA Kammerphilharmonie, Ensemble Reflektor, Camerata Basilea and other distinguished ensembles.
Together with her twin brother, she founded the Dúo Fasla-Prolat, with which they created their own violin and cello transcriptions of Scarlatti sonatas, first presented in 2017 at the invitation of MusaE. In the following years, they developed the project Íntima, which has steadily grown and was later recorded for Radio Clásica in 2024 under the direction of Luz Orihuela. The duo has performed widely across Spain, with appearances at institutions and festivals such as the Fundación Juan March, Burgos Philharmonic, Sociedad Filarmónica de Aranda, Academia de Bellas Artes de Canarias, Festival Internacional de Música de Ayllón, Teatro Juan Bravo de Segovia, Aeterna Música Madrid, Casino de Salamanca, Monastery of Ávila, and the Festival Villa de Lerma, among others.
Sofía has worked closely in lessons and masterclasses with Nora Chastain, Mikyung Lee, Krzysztof Wegrzyn, Vera Martínez-Mehner, Martin Beaver, Enrico Onofri and Clive Brown. She has received scholarships from AIE and the Community of Madrid, and was awarded by the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation “Live Music Now”.
After her initial studies in Spain with her father Farid Fasla Fernández and Zohrab Tadevosyan, she pursued her Bachelor’s degree at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg, graduating with excellence under Muriel Cantoreggi. She later completed her Master’s degree at the Anton Bruckner Universität Linz, studying with Meesun Hong Coleman and Sabine Nova. In September 2025, Sofía will begin a Master’s in Chamber Music with the Jouska String Quartet, as well as Pedagogy studies at the Musik Akademie Basel, under the guidance of Rainer Schmidt, Anna Gebert and Anton Kernjak.
A prizewinner at several international competitions in Spain, France, and the United States, Sofía was also awarded the Café Bauhaus Award 2024 with her ensemble, the Jouska String Quartet.
She performs on a Cesare Domenico Salodini violin, Brescia 1930.
