Kiril Fasla-Prolat
Kiril has performed recitals at venues including the British Isles Music Festival, Fundación Olivar de Castillejo, Elisabethenkirche in Basel, Bergen, Schloss Kirchberg an der Jagst, Proyecto Musical Villa de Lerma, Fundación Eutherpe in León, MusaE, Fundación Vitoria Vital, the Swiss Foundation for Young Musicians, and other prominent Swiss institutions. He recently presented the solo project “Höre einen Augengblick” at St. Marien Kirche in Basel and St. George’s Anglican Church, a programme for solo cello featuring works by J.S. Bach and J.M. Guix. He has also performed in chamber ensembles with distinguished musicians such as Adelina Oprean and Anna Gebert, primarily at Château de Promenois.
Born in Madrid, he began his cello studies with Suzana Stefanovic, later continuing with Adolfo Gutiérrez and Michal Dmochowski. He subsequently studied with Rafael Rosenfeld at the Musik Akademie Basel and with Danjulo Ishizaka at the Universität der Künste (UdK) Berlin. He was mentored for many years by Ivan Monighetti, Guillermo Pastrana and Christopher Jepson, and has also received valuable guidance from Lluis Claret, Troels Svane, Thomas Grossenbacher, Gregor Horsch, and Steven Isserlis. He has also pursued Baroque studies at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Petr Skalka.
Together with his twin sister, he founded the Dúo Fasla-Prolat, for which they created their own transcriptions of Scarlatti sonatas for violin and cello. They premiered this project in 2017 as part of the MusaE programme and later recorded their Intima Project for Radio Clásica.
He was selected for the Cello Akademie Rutesheim and has been a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra and the Polysono Ensemble, with which he has toured in Switzerland and Germany. He also collaborates with the Collegium Musicum Basel.
Kiril has received awards at leading Spanish cello competitions in Alcañiz, Vigo and was a recipient of the 2024 Café Bauhaus Award as a member of the Jouska String Quartet.
He has been awarded scholarships by the Fondation Thorens, DOMS Stiftung Basel, AIE, and the Department of Education of the Community of Madrid.
He plays a cello by Jean-Jacques Pagès.
