Alice Tomada is a student of Ilya Gringolts at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, where she is pursuing a Master Soloist degree. At the same time, she deepens her study of Baroque violin under Monika Baer and, since November 2024, has also been studying with Lorenza Borrani in Florence.
Born in 2001 in Bolzano, Alice began violin studies with her father. She earned her Bachelor’s degree with honors and distinction at the Monteverdi Conservatory in Bolzano in 2021. Alice has taken part in masterclasses with Giuliano Carmignola, Sergey Khachatryan, Shlomo Mintz, Christoph Poppen, and Marco Rizzi. In 2022, she was selected as one of only 15 violinists worldwide to participate in the prestigious masterclass led by Leonidas Kavakos at the Academy of Athens.
A passionate chamber musician, Alice performs regularly in piano duo, trio, and string quartet formations. With pianist Matteo Scalet, she won prizes at international competitions (including First Prize at the Soroptimist Competition in Bolzano, the Spezzaferri Prize in Verona, and the Giangrandi-Eggman Competition) and gave numerous recitals, notably at the Philharmonic Hall of Trento for the Società Filarmonica, the Tempio Valdese in Milan, and the Church of San Cristo in Brescia. More recently, with pianist Allegra Ciancio, she performed at the LAC Hall in Lugano for Lugano Musica on the occasion of the Paul Klee exhibition opening.
With the Acquerello String Quartet, she has appeared for the Amici della Musica di Padova and the Accademia Perosi. She also performed Schubert’s Quintet with cellist Giovanni Gnocchi at the Viotti Festival.

In 2023, Alice successfully auditioned for the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester (GMJO) and took part in its summer tour, performing in major European venues under the baton of Daniel Harding and Jakub Hruša. In 2024, she was selected as an academist of the Orchestre des Champs-Élysées for the 2025 season under Philippe Herreweghe.
